I thought that feature was for all marking lights on the selected side. In this instance, only the tail lights were involved.

 

I didn't look at the front when it happened to me but it would make the most sense. Try it to see if you can reproduce what you saw. If not, it sounds like you have an issue that should be checked out otherwise you could return to find a dead battery one day.
