I just picked up a 2005 545ia sport
Wow, everything is great, way better than the e39 540/6. I am all smiles, Love the car.
Only one problem so far. NO angel eyes or parking lights. The eyebrow lights are lit.
I do have a parking light malfuction message for both front lights in the OBC.
All other lights work properly.

I searched the forum and don't see much mentioned and on my car it is both front lights.
I did check the bulbs and they are fine.

Any ideas?

I am going to need to get her NYS inspected in the next 10 days.

Thanks,

RonVF

No warrentee, it does have the 100k maintenance plan. Just got the car so I don't know what that covers.

In NJ, licensed used car dealers generally will guarantee a car will pass state inspection. With the failures you've noted it's probably going to fail NY State Inspection. The selling dealer should pay for repair. If you bought it privately and didn't notice the problem when you made the deal I'm afraid you're probably going to have to pony up for the cost of repair.

It could be something simple [but not inexpensive] like a coding problem or a module failure [definitely not inexpensive].

Does anyone have a manual that shows how to do maintenance on the parking lights/angel eyes?
Changing parking lightsis pretty easy but I have no idea where the angel eyes get their light sorce.
Someone said the parking lights? That bulb is yellow, angel eyes are white..

thanks.

ronvf@yahoo.com if you have a PDF you can email me.

Thank you,

Sorry about that. I searched parking light bulbs, not angel eys and knothing comes up. I didn't realize the angel eyes are the parking lights.
I thought the yellow bulb (directional) was the parking light.

The learning curve may be steep but hopefeully short. My E39 didn't have angel eyes so this is my first time with them.
Now I am seeing the upgrade at Daves Albright.com.
Do the stock blubs blow within 2-3 years? If I should go stock are they a dealer item or auto parts store? and how much are they compared to Daves?

Thanks for the help & understanding...

I found the problem, after all that it was the bulbs. I usually am pretty good with cars... Like I said step learning curve.
Now where to find the bulbs.
I went to Advance Auto Parts but they don't carry it.
I could do an upgrade but that will take a while ,and probably cost way to much compared to stock bulbs.
I quess I'll just have to wait until Monday when the BMW dealer opens.

I feel alot better now knowing it is nothing serious.
Wow do I have to rethink alot when compaired to the 97 E39.

Thanks for all the help.
