led door handle lights

hi guys need some answears on this topic im wanting to retrofit the led lights to my door handles on my pre lci 06plate 5 series like the 1s on the 1 series and 3 series could any tell how to do it been told the the 1s off a pre lci 3 series would fit on my pre lci 5 series .But then i got told off a local garage that the handles are different on both models so its not do able is this true?bashr would the 1s off a x5 fit mine does any 1 no if the handles are the same on the 3 series and 5 series thankz guys

The non-OEM method has been done on here a few times. Here are some threads...

All you need to do is connect some sort of LED strip to the light under the door to get power. As for the LED strip I went with this...

For around $30 in parts and a couple of hours of my time, I think it was worth it.

I noticed that the lights in the link above from ijdmtoy have 15" wire leads. That would be much better than the 3" leads on the lights from Glowhut. They were tedious to work with, not impossible, but difficult. The question would be do they fit through the opening in the handle.
