Same here. I actually got out for $109 including labor. It was the thermostat that had gone bad - how that results in a coolant leak I don't know, but I looked around on this forum and Bimmerfest and found a few other people with the same story. I was shocked at how cheap the repair was. First time for everything...

You paid $109 for a t-stat and install???? No fricken way! I was quoted at $490 for the same and had a BMW tech friend do it for $150... I think the t-stat and a couple gallons of BMW approved antifreeze would total more than $109 not even including labor... and the antifreeze will leak when the pressure backs up and the t-stat either stays open or closed...

I took my car to an independent shop to inspect the car for coolant leaking. They found out the two hoses attached to the engine are leaking. They charge me $740.00 to replace the two hoses since many parts need to be removed in order to reach the hoses. Am I being rib off or this is true ?

I had the same issue. It was relatively clear. When I took it in it was a transmission hose that let the fluid leak out. Your tranny fluid IS clear. It is not colored like US cars. They fixed it under warranty. My car was a bit sloppy in shifting but not a huge difference. I would get it done immediately.
