My Ride: BMW 5 Series 530D 2007
Default LCM issues

Hi Guys

Need a little help.

Had a bit of bother with my 2007 530D. A few weeks ago the Headlight, control unit and LCM packed in. I found that some water had been getting through a gap between the headlight cap and this eventually shorted out the car. Not very nice to drive at night with no light or indicators.

So I took to a local garage and they advised this has been going on for a while, the headlight unit and control units (adaptive headlight and xenon) needed to be replaced and also that i needed to purchase a NEW LCM (light control module).

I managed to source the headlight and control units for a reasonable price but the LCM is going for over £450 NEW. So wanted to consider a used one which I can get re-coded at a friendly garage elsewhere. I was unable to purchase an exact replacement of my LCM, the part no that was in my car was 61359203082 but a BMW breaker told me that I could use another part, 6135683539 this part was a succession of my one, so will work.

When all parts were assembled I took it over to the other 'friendly' garage to check over coding as the lights were still not right.

They are having problems, the indicators and main beams is working ok but the side lights (angel eyes are not working). They have double checked the coding and that is ok.

Anyone got any ideas ? Could it be the fuses? coding issues? wrong LCM unit? bulbs?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

S.

Have the shop code the LCM back to default. Not sure what software they are using but if ncsexpert run a blank a.man file. Usually this will fix all light issues as long as everything is mechanically sound.
