I feel that's going to make my conversation at the dealers all the more difficult this morning, but I really appreciate your opinion and speed of response. I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers

I can now also confirm if you hit the sport button the steering goes very firm which is noticeable at roundabouts for example.
The sport package seems to make a big difference

I had a good play today and took a short video on my cell - I'll upload and link shortly as soon as it's on youtube..
All I have to say is the car is a beast. I have owned various cars over the last few years including a Boxster S, 996 C2 and this drives as well and through traffic is every bit as quick as they ever did. The sports gearbox (now I have my head around how it works) is amazing and a MUST to anyone buying the E60. The re-map from DMS will only make a great car better
Got nearly 700 miles on the clock and starting to open it up a bit and I can see this is going to be fun

Here's the link
- ignore the first 30 seconds or so.
Bear in mind I was not putting my foot down and I'll try to get a better video shortly. Hopefully it may give you an idea how fast the gear changes happen.

I'm not for one minute saying the 535 is faster but it REALLY shifts

I went passed a line of cars today in a way that I haven't done since my 996.

It must become a vehicle in the top 2% performance-wise on the road (in the UK). (Not sure how I would measure or justify that of course).

Just wait till after the remap you take off a second off that 0-60 and all all that extra torque.

The mid range performance is way ahead of my 4.8 X5 or previous 5 series. I recently went to Le Mans and our convoy simply consisted of a 996 C4 Cab (which I was in) and a 535D M Sport. The 996 kept up with the 535 but was no faster in real terms and the driver was highly pissed off

Having only seen one perform (not even re-mapped) and having never driven the car prior to buying it and driving it away from the dealer, I had no idea until last week just how good these cars are
