Just installed an Escort Passport X50 via hard-wire on my '08 550i Sport. Tapped into the green/yellow going down to the windshield. This is the exact same installation I did on my previous '04 545i. Works perfectly.

Good work. I installed the Escort 8500 x50 as well in both of my vehicles. Way better than having the coiled power cord draping down the dash.
