i've used a valentine one for about 4 years, and love it.

have sat in other people's cars with other radar detectors, the V1 seems to offer just far better detection from all angles

e.g. it's easy to do the comparison when driving past the same fixed speed traps: my V1 will detect the signals waaaaaay before the radar detectors in other people's cars.

the cost is de minimis compared to the savings over the years, zero speed tickets in 5 years!

Vee One is the only one!

(But DD is right, the GPS one would be cooler if you live in a country where it would work!)

pbarch1, i am also looking into radar detector. Seems the debate is mainly between the Valentine1, Escort 8500 x50, and Bel RX65. Most of the testing I have seen rates the Escort and Bel the highest. Alot of people still recommend the V1. My dealer asked the BMW techs at the shop, and all recommended the V1, as well some other bimmer forums.

I have some time, but still not sure. Some links that I have been looking at:

I also believe the new road angel model is similarly great.

I'll never have anything but a Valentine One until I go senile. Eight years of Bimmer pedaling behind V1 protection and no tickets has made a believer out of me.

Valentine V1 - no contest. Used them for 10 years, expensive but worth it.

V1 here. I like the arrows that point in the direction of bogey encounter, best when smokey is coming up from the rear

Long weekend in Maine over the 4th, picked off four with great distance. Only problem I see is if your up around 100mph, youre closing in pretty fast so your reaction time must be commensurate with velocity
