Anybody hard wire a radar detector to the mirror's garage door button supply? I saw the pictured post of spliceing into the green/yellow wire by the overhead lights, but I don't like the idea of partially cutting through a wire.

That would be har wirring. Would you rather run power from the fuse box up the side of the car and then to the roof? It would require much more work. You would need to unsnap the whole car and take screws out. The worst that will happen if you clip the wrong wire of clip it to far is nothing. You can always tape it back togerther. Nothing hard

I wired according to the setup recommended by the V1 post. The tap splice stinks, and I hate doing it, but if you're careful, it's fine. It'll be up in the roof and not messed with forever.
Are you sure the garage door opener is 12v? In my wife's Blazer, its 3V or 6V - can't remember - and won't run the radar detector - I had to find another 12V source.

The garage door open has to be 12V since it's working off of the car's 12V system, right? If anything, at the very least is has to be taking 12V from the car as an input voltage...
