Long time lurker, first post. Moved up from an '03 E46 that I inherited from my wife a few months back to a 2007 530 on Wednesday. As you can imagine, I am very excited, and still figuring out all the features of the car. The tips and tricks topic was great for finding out some interesting little tidbits.

However, when I tried one of the tricks, the one about taking key out and still being to press start button for 10 seconds, it seems like I am somehow always able to start the car by pressing the start button without first inserting the key. It also seems that anytime I am close to the car and have the key in my pocket, I can touch the door handles and the car will unlock. Is this a standard feature, or is it some kind of add-on similar to the Keyless Go that you can get on an M-B?

I love the car, and this is a great feature. I just want to understand it, how to use it, limitations, etc. Thanks for any insight!

You probably have the comfort access feature.

Cool! The car wasn't advertised as having that feature when I bought it, so that would be a pleasant surprise. Is there a way to start the car from the key? My buddy was able to do that on his Jeep Cherokee. Seemed like a gimmick maybe, but kind of cool on a hot or cold day I guess.

**Edit** Never mind, just read the link you posted and now understand the feature. Thanks for quick reply!

No remote start with comfort access.

Most car manufacturers won't add remote starting because of safety/theft issues. This is what I've been told. Enjoy your new found option!

Not an OEM feature, might be able to do so after market, but wonder if it will mess with the CA
