Wow, this car has alot of power, I took it to 5.5 rpms for the first time yesterday, its amazing and the SMG is even beter at high RPMs. Know I just need to find some suckers willing to race me at a red light.

Here is Autoweek link (manual): http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=101027. I remember a 545 vs. STS test where 6 speed ran 0-60 mph in 5.65 sec but cannot find the link. I also remember Canadian driver getting 5.6 sec out of SMG. All auto tests were in 5.2-5.3 sec range.

The manual test on the link is slow relative to the current big 3 US mag Step tests. And, the SMG's 5.6 would be slower too. I have always wondered it BMW's claim that the manual and SMG being faster than the Step would hold up--given the lower rear end, etc., of the Step. But, not all auto tests are in the 5.2-5.3 range for the Step. In fact only one US big 3 test shows 5.2, and I think it is off base as the related 1/4 time is consistent with the remaining big 3 1/4 times.
BMW 545i R&T 6/05 5.2 13.7 104.0
BMW 545i MT 8/04 5.4 13.7 102.1
BMW 545i MT11/05 5.5 13.8 102.8

I've been anticiapting the "look" at a red light. I'm ready, but havent had it happen yet. The V8 has an alter ego ready to wind up and strike.
