All of the sudden tonite, the BT in my I-drive stopped responding. It stayed at 'Please activate phone' on the phone menu. When I tried to go to the setup and delete my phone, it won't let me do it. I even tried to 'uncheck' the BT setting, won't let me do it either!!!

Tried restarting the car...no luck!!! Does this look like a bad TCU?

Thanks!

My bluetooth device stopped working after a CIP update. After the upgrade there is no bluetooth in the I-menu, and BMW's computer can't find the bluetooth device... So actually today BMW give me a new bluetooth divice, because I always have problems after a CIP upgrade....

Contact your dealer and see if they can get any contact to the box..

Thanks for the info! The good news is when I got up this morning...it starts working again!!!

I think I-drive takes a while (overnite) to restart itself....

I've had exactly same thing happen to me a couple of times now. The BT portion of the software in the car appears to crash. Assist keeps working so it does not appear to be the TCU.

I, like you, tried to pair the phone to the car again however pairing is not possible. Letting the car go to sleep (turning all systems off and locking) for 30 minutes did the trick. All software booted up again normally on restart of the vehicle.

I have advsied my dealer and they have suggested an update to cip 20 after it is released (and hopefully beta tested by others prior to my install).

Same with me. When I got upgrade to 19.x, my TCU failed so no bluetooth. BMW had to replace it.

Just got our car back from BMW, and the bluetooth device is now changed! It took some time for the tech's to make it all work..

NEW PROBLEM:

The BMW tech pairing my phone though the DIS computer they use.. But as it is my dad's car, he would like to pair his phone, but my dad's Nokia 6230i can't find the bluetooth in the car!!

Should I just wait and let the car go into sleep mode, and then try it later??

Still warm here in Alberta, +19c this week ... but snow is just around the corner. Off the England next week (looks like rain and snow there, and Irleand the following week - hopefully warm enough for golf - at least the pubs are warm )
