I tried it out again today. it did not beep at all either. I hit the button twice, nothing happened. On the third try it emitted a loud voice command that said "cancel" and after that everything worked fine. I was also browsing other posts on this topic and it seems a change of audio source ( which is what the voice command inadvertently may be doing) will get the audio back. Check this out. Guess we both need to go visit the dealer. Better take a printout of the link along.

SITUATION
The customer states that there is a sudden loss of audio in any audio mode (Radio, CD, etc). The audio is restored following a change of audio source (for example from FM to CD). If the customer turns up the volume using the volume knob when the audio is out, the volume may be at a very loud volume when the audio is restored.

CAUSE
Software error in Top HiFi.
