Fantastic run with the MT man....I haven't been up there in years....a ton of fun. We need to get a Chitown meet going...after my shadowline trim is on, of course.

First of all it was my first time at a quarter-mile dragstrip and i've got say
it was some if the most fun i've ever had.
Keep in mind that it was 39 degrees at the time i was racing which made it
particularly difficult to get the wheels to stick to the road especially with my
Bridgestone run-flats.
Talking to some of the regulars i was told that if it was a warm day i would probably
be able to decrease my time by 3 to 5 tenths of a second.
All that said my best time was 13.8 seconds and i was able to do this twice.
I'm pretty happy with this time all things considered.
Now its time to get some mods and give it another try in the summer,
but next time i'll be running on PS2's.

One thing about the temperature though, I think 'the regulars' are right and wrong.
It is true that near freezing temp make your tires harden however, the colder temp
makes engine run stronger. With street tires, if you do the proper warming/burning
up the tires before the run, higher temperature won't likely give you a better time.
It will actually give you better times with colder temperature.
Slicks are different story. It all depends on the slicks of course, but slicks are 'more' temperature sensitive than street tires.
I wouldn't bet on 3-5 tenths of second improvement when temperature goes up.
With that theory, people who drag strip in Phoenix will always have a better time than people in New York
if everything being same except for the temperature.
Rule of thumb is .1 improvement per 10F drop and vice versa.
I'm no expert though. Just a huge fan of Formula 1
Someone will explain you better or correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice run! Last time I was up there my buddy ran a 125mph with his E55. Could you let us know what your mph was at 13.8? I'm guessing 101-3 but I wanted to be sure. I've got an '05 545i that I want to bring up there within the next month when it gets a little warmer.
Thanks!

NHRA rules for 2008 state that "any car running 14.00 and quicker in the 1/4 mile requires a Snell K98 or 2000 or newer OR SFI 41.1A helmet (see complete list below)". Also a new NHRA rule for '08 requires that "any car running 9.99 or quicker in the 1/4 mile requires an NHRA approved FULL face helmet with visor.

That is correct. After I made the post I realized I was wrong. Most of my runs were over 14 seconds. I only had 2 under. And one of them was my last. I think that's why they didn't make me wear one.

Thats some good times...i think anyway
Im just waiting for the local track to open up here (if it does)
Im pretty interested to see what i can run, especially being at a higher altitude.
You should go again when you get your CDV, SB, & PS2's on
