...and I must say I don't envy you American E60 drivers one little bit, especially those with sports suspension etc.

The roads, in general terms, are TERRIBLE! Holes and cracks deep enough to do damage all over the place! How do you deal with it? Why do you put up with it?

Other than the roads, the USA was great - lots of fun had by all!

Nope, we were in Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and a bit of Maine.

Loved Boston! Kept getting lost there tho!

Roads up north are bad because they have winter. Cold vs. hot seasons makes cracks in the roads get bigger.

Here in Orlando, the roads are not really that bad. I have not hit a single pothole since I moved here. But that's mostly because we don't have much of a winter season here. So the climate is easier on the roads.

Summer tires, year-round. Woo hoo!!

Ya' all have to come south if u want smooth roads. you were in frost upheavel country and it's hard to keep up with the pot holes. Down along the Sun Belt u can find all the smooth stuff u can stand. Just don't come to Florida, we have too many cars on the roads now. We also have too many of the 80 and up generation trying to drive when they can't see or hear. So I guess it's a trade off after all.

This is one reason why the sports package is not all that attractive to me here in Massachusetts. The roads really are uneaven/bumpy, and the back roads get many potholes. Very low profile tires + expensive wheels + potholes = sad driver with a bent wheel. If for 06 I can get the steering option outside of the sports package, I'll be delighted for this exact reason. If I can't I'll probably forgo the sports package all together.

"Road feel" can be great, but these are many roads here you don't want to feel!!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the Boston area. Too bad you saw it at the ugliest time of year! Nothing is green yet, and the sides of the roads are all covered with sand from winter road treatments.

Yeah, we did note a fair bit of "sad" looking grass and even piles of dirty looking snow. This was quite something as, on one or two of the days, temperatures were in the high 60s and there had been rain. Still the snow hadn't melted.

We did some of the usual tourist stuff - Faneuil Hall, whale watching etc. And a few too many Denny's breakfasts than my waistline would have liked!

I just cry once in a while. The roads in Los Angeles are the worst, not because of the weather but because the city and state is almost broke.

Hehe...tell governor Arnie to donate some of his movie fortunes to the State and stop tearing up the roads with his Humvee!
