Couldn't disagree with you more.
I think Ford did tons of damage to the brand. They started mass producing body parts and Aston DBs started looking like Jags and vise versa.
I wont disagree that on a dollar scale they may have save Aston, but I think they did a world of damage to the previously hand made brand's image.
There's no "may" about it - Aston likely wouldn't be around today if it weren't for Ford.

Ford did a stellar job on Aston and left the company in the best shape it's been for years and with its best product line in years. In Ulrich Bez, Aston has its best CEO in years. Any fans of the marque owe Ford a debt of gratitude.

Swajames, The problem is I feel they saved the badge but killed the essence of the company.

Absolutely. I'd love an Aston. Probably my favorite cars. I thought for a minute about the Vantage when I got my current car but I just couldn't afford the extra $$$
aston's are the sexiest cars in the world... but as reliable as a ferrarri maybe a bit more unreliable... if you do decide to get an aston make sure you have a backup and a flatbed tow's number always handy.

But when they are working they are truely fun...

again, I disagree. I don't know how much you know about Ulrich Bez but with him at the helm the "essence" of the company has never been stronger. Aston's image and market presence has never been stronger (to the point where Aston was in fact voted the "coolest" brand in the UK in September 2007). That would never have happened ten to fifteen years ago and that resurgence of the brand and return to form and core values was due to stewardship and $$$ from Ford.

I'm a firefighter and we cover a sizeable stretch of Rt 95 through Providence, RI - and from my experience (30 years) we have an inordinate number of accidents on the highway involving Jaguars in the rain. I have no statistics - its purely anecdotal - but given the number of Jaguars I see on the roadways, and the number I see involved in accidents during rainy weather conditions - it gives me reason for concern. The newer Jags do not seem as prone to rain related problems - and to be honest it may be more a tire issue than a handling issue - but its the kind of thing that has concerned me for a number of years.

Interesting insite, it might however not be the tires but the women that have typically driven them.

was walking thru the mall wth my wife today, and saw they had an xf out for a promotional give-away. Honestly was not impressed with it up-close and personel. Seemed a bit narrow and cramped. My wife was actually considering this car as her lease on her toyota is up in August. As we walked away from the car she said "another car off the possibility list". And a sigh of relief from me followed....

Its actually bigger in every interior dimension than the E60, so is the Infinit M35 by the way.

I guess it can share some of the market of the GS .. But won't hold up to the E60 or the new up coming MB E class

dimensions/numbers may be bigger, but that does not necessarily translate to more room/comfort....
