Great! Can you tell me where you purchased the part and did you install yourself? If so, was it difficult?

Thanks,

Bill

I'm going to go out on a limb and say my car is fixed. This is the part that fixed it.

Was about a 30 minute job unit is right under right side cabin air box in the sealed box.

Do you have the install instructions? All I can find is the instructions for the 7 series and X5.

Thanks,

Bill

So when you saying right side do you mean passenger side?

I just wanted to say that I experienced the same problems plus a nasty engine misfire and I replaced the integrated supply module and all is well. Thats for the post guys

Thanks,
Peter

I had a similar problem:

2008 550i 6sp MT
without warning, it would just not start. Everything was normal in the cabin and there were no errors--the engine would just not crank. Like there was no power to the starter. Sometimes it would happen and then start after 2-5 retries. occasionally I would have to retry for 10-15 minutes before it would start. Then it would go days to weeks without any problem. I started to get more frequent. I took it to an indie shop and the only thing they found was 9 errors on the starter (about the number of no start episodes). They replaced it 2 weeks ago (after market warranty paid the $1300+). No problems since, but I am still holding my breath every time I hit the start button.

They said the starter is buried deep under the car.
