None even with the car having been parked for over a week, however have noticed there is a current draw of .25 volts when car is awake versus being asleep, in other words the battery voltage is .25 volt lower when car is woke up.
Don't know if that is significant or not.

Given that when the car wakes up it starts to turn things on, that would seem normal.
So what voltage is the battery at when the car is asleep?

Last time I drove it, after going asleep was 12.52V @ 11C.Jan. 31.
Feb. 4th, after having been in garage for 4 days was 12.38V @ 2 degree C,
2 days later 12.14V @ 0 degree C.

Put battery under charge.

Just today got an Amp clamp current tester and Getting some funky readings....
Upon wake up with door open, 70 amp, door closed 20 Amp, 5-10 mins later drops to 7 AMp.
Car asleep again, now draws 2.5 Amp.........

These readings taken with charger disconnected.

Believe it should be 20 milliamps so "Houston we have a problem..".........

What I am perplexed about though, is that I never had any "High battery drain messages"........

Ceartainly looks like something is slowly draining it, I believe normal current consumption whilst asleep should not be greater than 80mA which would keep the voltage up at around 12.5v to 12.6v for some considerable time and not drop to almost 12v.

Agree you would expect to see some sort of message re: high current drain though, guess it depends on how the software defines "high current drain".

You can carry out an Energy diagnosos with DIS which might point you in the right direction, I've heard of all manner of culprits from vanity mirror switches to faulty door locks to IBS.

Have a look here for some screen shots of the type of thing DIS can do for you (post No. 5)

Have been reading up on some of the technical aspect of power mgnt on the E60 and I have been suspecting the IBS as well, plan to do some close look at that.
Am in process of installing all that DIS...and NPA cable software will be a steep learning curve by the looks of it.

If you haven't got too far withobtaining your diagnostics/coding setup and don't mind getting something from outside of your own shores then a good option to go for is this one BM Technic | BMW Diagnostic Cable | BMW Diagnostic Software « Diagnostic & Coding Cable with software for BMW. Automatic One Click Software Installation and BMW Cable with Ignition Detection.. It's all one click install and setup, really good product.
You will save yourself a whole load of pain and hassle downloading stuff and then figuring out what and how to configure next, a superb product.

This was happening on my 650. I put it off for a week. Then it died on the highway in the middle of no where. It was the alternator and it needed to be replaced. I would get it checked out immediately. The worst was the rednecks who stopped to "admire" my car. Don't wish that on anyone.

Does this diagnostic cable for <$100 include everything you need? I was under the impression that to enable "programming" etc... that it was more expensive than this.....

Hey cmyachtie, how are you getting on with fixing your problem, come to any firm conclusions yet?
