I have wondered for a long time what my root cause could be and have several WAG’s as well and have long since given up and resolved my self to just fix it...!

There is an specific e60 programming and coding forum that's part of 5 series.net

I'm inclined to think those guys in that forum know the answer.

would love to see a link for that, have not been able to find it, however have spend considerable amount of time on bmwcoding.com and on the coding forum on bimmerfest years ago.
