Hi, I did a post on the Parts, Accessories and Mods forum. Title was "Self Installation of Dension Gateway 500" on 26 December 2007. This unit is far superior to the BMW bit of kit as it giives full iPod features, USB input, Aux input and allows the use of the 6 disc changer. If I could work out how to add a link.........

when i fitted a non usb bmw branded ipod interface, it needed a $300 programming session at the dealer
There are some other USB interfaces that do not make use of the MOST bus. Not only might they require some software, they might also show up as an alien device when the dealer runs the usual dignostics at service time.
It took me a lot of research to find the right device, can I suggest that anyone wishing to do the same makes loads of enquiries. BTW it is handy having a brother in law that runs a BMW dealership and a potential son in law at another BMW dealer! Helps cut through the BS!!
