The 535i may be close to the 550i on power, but they are as far apart on sound, as a mountain lion is from an african lion. There is nothing special about the sound of my 535i but the sound of the LCI 550 is, in a word,...awesome!
As for handeling, any weight advantage my 535i has over 550i could only be exploited by a professional race driver on a race track over many laps, and even then, we may only be talking a few seconds. Most of us amateurs would be hard pressed to make that weight difference count on the street.![Cool](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)

Both my 545 and my 535 were my daily beaters, the 550 is the same. None of these are exclusive cars sorry to say, and to say the 550 is better because its more expensive is really grasping at straws but we 535ers appreciate your desperation.
As for why I think the 550 is better, I posted my list of reasons earlier, and none of my reasons had to do with price.

pennetta , remember THIS I6 v V8 discussion....I recall a different man back then.
anyway, with regards to the thread I think the 535i is great in it's own right - but I still prefer the V8 for the many reasons mentioned above. The cost factor is definitely something to consider - but if you want the ponnies in the barn, you gotta feed them.

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!

modded 535 is faster than modded 550.
modded 550 sounds better than modded 535.
535 is probably more agile than the 550 due to its lower weight, but the 550 probably has more grip than the 535 due to its non-RFT tires.

We have been thru the Idrive, SMG, turbo, Sports Auto discussions- I agree we need something new.
Keeping on track with this threads intentions, when is BMW Motorsport coming to market with all of the performance products for the BMW line? Anyone know?
