i just bought a 2005 545i sport. lovely car...

...paid a mere $26K, has 34k on the clock, it is flawless, not a scratch anywhere inside or out.
...so now i'm afraid to drive it. i've had it for a week, put only 50 miles on it. i'm just so afraid that something will go wrong with it.
...i even cringe at the thought going into my garage b/c i will have to look at it.

my cd player shuffles for no reason when there is no CD in it.
comments please.
I also bought an immaculate '05 545i except automatic. 10K less miles than yours but paid a bit more. My solution to buyer's remorse? I took a 2100 mile trip with it right away. It performed flawlessly. Never a hiccup. 80 MPH on the Interstate all day long. Burned no oil. 29 MPG. Handled like an F-16. High maintenance costs can be beaten thanks to the help of the DIY work done on this forum.

Occasional CD shuffle is not an indication that anything is wrong.

HTH

Me neither. I am about to hit 15K (and I only got my 550 in March of 2009).

like everybody else said, chill. you read about some problems here and there, but you dont hear of all the people who dont have issues.
just drive it, maintain it, and enjoy it. and if you need anything fixed, try and find an independent mechanic.

plus you have a manual, so you dont have to worry about transmission problems except clutch.
engine is almost bulletproof...maybe have to do a water pump or something minor after 100k.

one of you guys should start a "frequent driver" thread

(I too put more miles on my Bimma than I used to put on my Audi before - I'm addicted to e60)

I question whether a 60 year old woman is driving a manual transmission.
What do you mean about this? One of my best friends just bought herself a manual Porsche 911 as a 60th birthday gift to herself. Not only I love being in her company, even though she's 10 years younger than myself, but she could put most late 20's/30's women to shame in the energy and looks department. Today, being 60, or 50, or 40 does not mean "advanced age" anymore. Some of us are just getting started.......

These cars are meant to be driven and can be driven hard. They were not built to be handled with white gloves.

Nut up or buy a honda
