I first saw the following article just now in my local newspaper:
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07228/809835-185.stm
Here's a link to the test results pages:

Anyone trading in their cars for a Kia?

Not again this discussion! We have all seen wrecked e60s and people tend to get out ok. WF it matters what happened in lab? This was already topic few years back.
Which is more important: real life safety or good ratings?
No one buy car to wreck it. Or do they?

E60 got 4 stars in the EURO NCAP test back in 2004.....Not TOP of the class but still performs well in my opinion.

Also having now read the article in full, it's not quite as bad as it sounds...
"...the institute's test indicated that the 5 Series has a strong body structure but the dummy was injured when it was hit by the arm rest..."

Seems like this is the same discussion (NCAP results) that was going on when I first joined the forum abut three years ago. Do not expect BMW to release any more detailed information, just the party line that the car is very safe.

See, these crash tests only apply to a bunch of dummys anyway.
I have never actually seen a dummy driving a BMW.
