... you may not want to read this: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/01/bmw-to-...ions-to-idrive/

Personally, I think it all sounds great.

That's interesting. I really love I-drive, to be honest. Its very intuitive, once you learn and get familiar with it.

I wonder how many people need "multiple users". Nobody else gets to drive my car...

It's funny because every magazine review hates the idrive. It's hard for most people if they are only exposed to the idrive for a few hours or even a few days. Honestly, the first few days of living with the idrive was a little frustrating, but now I can't live without it. I recently had a 3 as a loaner and all the buttons on the dash were pissing me off as I was trying to navigate through them. Has anyone noticed that most luxury cars companies are putting in their own version of the idrive? I'm all for adding more features and making it customizable. It's great that BMW is leading the way again for everyone else.

Just because of this new I-drive I will buy BMW as my next car. I suggest a virtual software that can do most settings on PC/MAC then burn into a CD as a backup. Use this CD to upload my settings into my BMW. Oh yeah!

or... bluetooth it through my notebook to my bmw... fancy!

I'm a new BMW owner, and I really love the i-drive system. It was very easy for me to get used to it.

Old news - all covered by a patent issued to BMW last year (and most of the text is taken verbatim from the patent)

I read it back then - and have been waiting for more substantive announcements so we can see where this is going.
