550i -- I'm very happy with what I've got and proud to say it!

Oh-oh, Pride is a sin.... but WTF. I'm just in a strange mood today....

No. The 550i is fantastic. The only benefit to a 535 for me would be the possibility of all wheel drive. But you can't get sport suspension with any xi. Also, my wife has a 335xi. Great engine, but not..not a V8. IMHO, the 8 has a lot more character and builds to a crescendo. The 3.0 tt is ruthlessly efficient and very flat in its power delivery.

As they say in racing, "there is NO replacement for displacement".

No turbo, no gizmos, no plumbing, no magic bullets; just simple to build and maintain user friendly POWER

The 550 wins ...

I love my 535xi BUT if I could have got the 550 with the xDrive option, that is the car I would have bought.

I drove both the 550 and the 535 before deciding, and I loved the power of the 550, BUT for where I live and being that the car was a year-round daily driver, the xDrive was more important to me than the extra power. Not that the 535 engine is any slouch at all.

If I lived where is no snow, no ice/black ice and no freezing rain, yah, the 550 would have been the choice. A 550 with snow tires is NOT as capable in winter as the 535xi with snows. And that's it for me.

True, but the N54 is an exception. It's very detuned in stock form. -> www.n54tech.com

Thanks for all of the comments. Since almost all want the 550i, who wants my 2006 550i with 39k?

I came from a 545is and went with a 535i. I knew I was getting the software download before I took delivery of my car. The extra power over the 545/550 with just a download still amazes me.
