Hi all,

My idrive has started shutting itself down for no reason. Sometimes it comes back on, and sometimes it freezes (requiring the car ignition to be cycled on/off to reboot it). I have had DIS on the car and it can't communicate with any of the CCC modules (when its shut itself off). Interestingly, it can not communicate with the Micro Power Module either, making me think its not the CCC unit and maybe its a dodgy mpm or battery. The battery was giving 'high rate of discharge errors' during the cold weather, but after a good charge, everything was ok.
There is no water in the spare wheel well, and the only module in there is for the PDC. The car is a post sept 2005 530d model which has the original battery.
What do ya reckon? Battery (i can get a new one delivered for £60 here in the UK (VARTA 850CCA)) or mpm or the dreaded CCC unit?

All opinions welcomed

Gav

Not sure if this will help.
My idrive froze today and rebooted a couple of times.
To do a complete reset Hold the CD off button and press the CD eject button and if you have it the DVD eject button at the same time and hold.
This is the same as Ctrl Alt Del on your PC and my help get it re-synced?

Cheers Dave
I have done this several times already, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I am having trouble locating the micro power module, its not in the spare wheel well. The car has professional navigation with the 8.8 screen, if that makes any difference?
Checked all the fuses and it all looks ok....

Ive also got the Pro version SAT NAV, although it seems to work ok the DVD has trouble reading the Map disc more often than not, I bought a cleaner from Maplins but this has nade no difference, so I bought another used Pro disc for £20 from ebay to see if this has any effect. Waiting for the disc now, however with he idrive crashing today im wondering if this may be connected in some way?
