I retrofitted the PDC. The sound of the PDC is very high pitch to the extent of being irritating. Any way to change the audio chime of the PDC?

Also, after software upgrade, the idrive screen takes almost one minute after starting engine to appear. Should it be like that?

Don't know about your PDC issue, but I've just had my software update postponed for 3 weeks because of the start-up issue - dealer reckons they'ld have fixed it by then.

I'm afraid there's no way to reduce volume for them. But, some of my friends asked dealer to overwright data for the upgraded ver. happened to find the sounds became soft.

The Audi A6 I test drove, you could change the PDC pitch. So front/rear sounded different. Good idea, but I missed the visual display of the BMW.

zag, no. I sat in a Camry and Lexus and the PDC sound is a lot more pleasant and not so high pitch.

I don't find the e60 PDC alarm sound unpleasent or high pitch..in fact i found those in Toyota Camry uninspiring.

Bear in mind, i think the audio output is feed thru the front and back speakers and i am not sure if they make a different on non premium sound system set up.
You might want to get on those 530i and compare if they are not the same then complain to PML.
