After replacing my MPM that had a hole burned in it, my iDrive is still not working. I pulled the following codes:
A46D/not present - CID: CID malfunction due to peripheral
A468/present - CID: External Open circuit (LVDS data line)
I bought a fiber optic loop to try to bypass the bluetooth, but on my 2005 E60 I'm not sure where to plug it in. I'd greatly appreciate some guidance on this:
Today I pulled the following fuses and found one of the telephone fuses blown, but replacing it did not solve the problem.
CD Changer - 38
Radio - 34
Telephone - 37
Radio Amplifier - 80
Telephone - 52/56
Car Does Not Have
Satellite Radio - 67
Navigation - 35
Video Unit - 67
I was able to get the Optic Most terminator disconnected so I could get access to the three pairs of fiber optic cable, but none seemed to light up with the ignition turned on. Any advice on what to look at now would be appreciated.
I had a constantly rebooting iDrive that I traced back to the DVD drive (navigation) laser head going dead. I figured I'd have to replace the whole drive but was able to buy a new laser head from an online parts store for relatively cheap.
For some reason, that dying laser read head caused the entire iDrive to become nonfunctional with the screen going blank, but replacing the head fixed it completely.
Not sure if that's your problem, but you may have some other iDrive related component going bad, causing the whole system to not work. Found out what that CID malfunction due to peripheral is and fix it.
