My car was taken to the dealer a couple of days ago because the iDrive had frozen, I just got a called that the a module is not accepting the programming so they have started a PUMA case? Do I need to call BMW or is it approved easily?

Is this a common ocurrence with this car? I only driven the car for 2 months :

Beverly Hills BMW have no loaners available and neither does South Bay. I am hoping that the dealer I took it to can provide me with a loaner for this weekend at least!

Sorry to raise an old post.

I've had my brand new MY09 520d only 2 weeks and my idrive just crashed. I had just started the car and it came up with BMW on the screen - then some of the menu's came up, but most of the screen was blank. I turned off the car several times but it just did the same thing.

My manual was at home (been reading it at night) so I started holding buttons down trying to reset it. I held down the menu button for about 5 seconds which made the screen go blank - then I turned off the car again, then started it and then it was fine. Hope it doens't happen too often.

Anyone else have this?

isnt there a trick to reboot the system, by holding down the dvd and cd eject buttons, along with the volume button?

funny thing, I just got our of my car 10 minutes ago to see if my coolant error cleared. And my idrive would not do any input. I had to turn off car and start it again, and it was working again

My 2007 550i crashes on startup about once every two weeks. It will reset itself after 10 minutes or you can force reboot by simultaneously holding the eject buttons of the CD and DVD drive and pushing the mute button on the volume control at the same time.

Guy, that is not normal, you need to bring that bad boy to the dealer and get it swapped!
