Here you go: Hidden menu
The guide says the ignition must be turned on, but at least I can get into the hidden menu even if the engine is running.
The coolant temp is shown in the folder 7.

One thing yet... it's not the iDrive menu, it opens in a small screen between the speedometer and tachometer.
There's not much you can actually do with the menu, but lots of more or less useful info is available. Like the coolant temp for example...
In that case you should leave it alone.
