I have an 06 525. Is it normal for the car to idle rough.
you can't feel it after they changed the motor mounts. but if im at a red light the RPM jumps up and down consistently
Just doesn't sound normal to me
Also the Tranny seems to shift very hard at times, the only time its smooth is if i'm pedal to the metal
The more a baby it the rougher it shifts
any input would help

I have the same issue with mine. Rough idle, very noticeble when I am at lights almost like the car is going to cut out but doestnt. I have had it to BMW and they told me that needed a new flywheel and that they replaced it. However Its not fixed and I will be bringing it back this week for another try

My father's 07 530i had rough idle problem also. We took it to the dealer three times for this problem and the answers were the same from the service guy "it is normal."

How many km has the car done?
If it has done over 45000km there are alot of things need changing.
I had these a last year and it started a month ago and I change the oil and spark plugs and reset the computer on the Tranny and it is OK for now in my car.

there are many things you can check and see if need changing

1. Spark plugs.
2. gearbox oil and oil fillter
3. engine mount.
4. spark plugs cables

I experienced this with my E 46 325i m sport intermittently. Sometimes it will last a week and BMW can't see any problem. Coincidentaly there is a gas company that introduce the 95 octane fuel and I tried it and to my surprised it solved the problem. After this incident I always use 93 to 95 octane and never had the problem again. My 2 cents...hope it helps. Thanks
