I got my car back last Friday after having the software updated. Now I noticed that at the bottom of the screen in the center where the signal strenght is showed, the little icon that is just to left of it is missing. What is that icon? Am I missing something now?
Thanks,
Jon

The icon you lost is just a small "wizzard's wand." It is replaced by a cell phone icon when your car is connected to a bluetooth phone. Otherwisek, it's just blank space with signal bars.

Disagree Speedracer. I do not have bluetooth but nevertheless, the icon comes and goes.
Much has been written about it in prior posts but it is still not clear to me what the cellphone-shaped icon is meant to signify.

The cell phone icon does not indicate missed calls. Turn your BT off and it will disappear, then, turn it back on and it will appear. It indicates connection between your phone and the car.

I agree with speedracer. I get the little cell phone icon whether I have missed calls or not.
the little cell phone icon, for me, is missed calls. it'll stay there if you don't use your idrive to check the missed calls. but once checked, it'll be disappeared. well, again, it's what i've experienced.

Post CIP 16x the following changes in icons are present.
1.The magic wand to the immediate left of the signal strength bars only shows when your BT phone is paired. Often when you turn on the car you will see it missing. Your phone has not paired yet and what you are seeing is the signal strength for assist which uses the Verizon CDMA network. This is actually quite usefull as now I know whether I am paired or not and can see the BT connection break when I switch from one phone to another.
2. The icon further to the left which shows up once in a while and looks like a non-flip cell phone indicates a missed call. it only applies to calls missed while your BT phone is paired to the car. Simply go to the missed calls menu and it will disappear.
