Basically I know that I kind of want to debadge her because I think it will make the car look more slick in the back view. But my problem is its a single exhaust system so I'm obviously not debadging to pretend its a 550i or M5, then again I kind of want people to know its a 535i and not an older model. Am I being anal because I don't want people to think its a 525i or 530i? lol gimme some criticism if needed and be honest

I removed mine for a time but realized that after doing that I assumed everyone thought I was in a 525. So, I got the 530 black badge and put it on. I LIKE IT! Here is a high resolution image of it if you want to see a close-up of what I mean:

It was inexpensive from http://www.bimmian.com

koskesh,

i think there's a bit of a "debagded stigma," if you will.

basically debadging comes
A) with having such a fantastic amazing ride, that you just want it to be the cleanest thing on earth
as a means of covering-up the fact that you have a bottom-end model

so you can either wear your 535 with pride.. or.. make it less noticeable by blacking it out like Howitzer

Sounds like you put some good thought into this.

Honestly, when I see a debadged car (regardless of model), I don't think that it looks an sleeker or cooler or whatever - it's just debadged. I wouldn't waste any more time analyzing the effects of de-badging, just leave 'em on and call it a day...

99% of the world has no idea what models are what.
Most people think it's a Camry anyhow.
But if you like the cleaner look go for it.
It's for you.

Yep, this is true. I got a cup of coffee at a drive-thru McDonald's day before yesterday and after I pulled up the guy said "nice, is this a 650?" I said "yea, thanks", and drove off.

Half the time people just see you're in a nice BMW. They don't give a damn what displacement your engine is. You'll find the only one that cares about that is you. hehe

Well I have a 520i and i kept the badge. I don't care what people think because I know I love it. Plus my License plate number is 520. So it looks sweet with the badge

Anyhow, I say keep it and be proud with what you have

I did see a guy in an 550i when I was at the dealer that had totally blacked out his ride. He rebadged his car with 666i in matte black, I thought it looked pretty sweet but I'm not gonna copy him. Was pretty original idea I thought though.

I debadged, just because I thought it looked cleaner. There is no need to for me to try to "fool" anyone - most of the guys I hang out with have 5ers too, so that would be pointless (they know I have a 530).

He's lying, his is actually a 525i!
I vote for the black numbering, as I did it and it looks NICE!!!
