If you are going for performance only get the Caddy...but god..that thing is ugly as hell, and has more plastic inside than a Toyota. For a 40K saving on a F10 it is a very good offer, but if you can afford it, go with the F10 or make a sweet deal on a brand new E60 M5...

They resigned the CTS in 09 or 10. The interior is much improved.
No free maintenance on the Caddy for what that is or is not worth.

No you are not nuts at all. The CTS-V is an awesome ride.... plus since it is supercharged it is insanely cheap to be modified. However, before making the switch, I would recommend looking at some of the CTS-V forums for common problems.

The pricing makes sense...I wanted an AWD sedan when I was looking and the CTS-V had not been out. If it had been, I would have probably seriously considered it. Also, GM being GM you should be able to get the car way below MSRP.

IMHO
when youre at this level of car you have a lot of $$ sitting in the street. My advice is to go for the Cad. It is a nice car and you seem to really like it. The Cad seems to be a 4 door Corvette.
The economy and the BMW label are both questionable these days. take the $40k +tax and set it aside. The Cad is more proven than the F10 and the F10 will depreciate faster than the cad is fast.Unfortunately, once out of warranty they will depreciate even further.

Look at Consumers Mag. and you will see that BMW gets a black eye almost everywhere primarily due to the HPFP issue.

On the negative GM is already bankrupt but there are plenty of indy mechanics who can deal with it if they go under.

Buy the Cad and after 3 or 4 years buy a used F10 and have a ton of money left over.

I have buyers remorse. I was stuck in between the CTS-V and the 550. I liked the styling and handling of the 550, been real hesitant with GM, so I got the 550. Now more than ever, I wished I picked up the V. It's a screamer, handles well, looks not too bad, but for the overall money factor, the CTS-V is much more of a better choice. Also, you will not really lose anything with this vehicle compared to any M, except the famous BMW flat bed ride. Funny, I wished I had this feeling 2 months ago. I'll consider this next June...

Get the V!!

im getting really close... anyway, i thought i d share pics ive found.

this is what it looks like right now...

as far as the interior, its american. there is no way it will ever look german. its not as nice as bmw, but not terrible either.

the seats are leather recaros with a suede insert which are heated and ventilated. the steering wheel is suede as is the shifter. also, it has the panoramic roof.

interior of a car without the suede wheel:

suede wheel and shifter (is it me or does that shifter look like its two feet tall???):

here's one with a kit that replaces all the chrome with black (a MUST have in my mind) and OEM wheels that have been black-chromed.

The CTS-V would be the "smarter" choice obviously. But I buy car for looks not performance, so I would have to stay with the M5 BUT NOT THE F10, I would buy an E60. Which right now you can probably find one for less than the CTS-V.

just like I thought, in the long run the V10 will always smoke a V8, no matter how supercharged or w.e. it is.
