hummming sound
#1
Hi all
I've got a 2006 model 535d m sport with the 19" alloys, over the last 3-4 months theres been some sort of hummming sound, I think its a bearing but does anyone know how I can confirm if its a bearing or not ? anything I can do ?
Also looking for a good trusting garage that wont rip me off and say its something else in the Ilford Essex area if possible.
Thanks

I'm going through the same thing. Its a droning WOOM WOOM WOOM WOOM WOOM then we-er we-er like hum. I know lovely words for the sounds but I am trying figure out how to not break the bank and fix the problem I havent put it on a lift and checked for wheel play yet but that is a start to see. Also, some say if you turn hard either way while moving and hear the sound get worse, then it could be isolated to a single side. For example: If you are turning right and the sound gets louder, it could be the front left wheel bearing. Mine does not do that and it chooses to get loud and faint when it wants to. Its the most annoying sound ever. Hopefully we get a response with a similiar issue and fix. I can't take it much longer, so I might be having at it DIY style. Let me know if you find anything out. I think all E60's use the same one. I have a 2008 535i.
