LIke the snotty waiter in the fancy restaurant - it depends on how badly you want MT. My personal preference runs the other way but I'm driving a 2010 535i with sport auto which never lets me down so long as I keep it in sport mode, which I do except when leisurely cruising with passengers in the car. If I were 20 years younger, I might feel differently, but then I'd be driving a 335i with mods.
I drove a MT all my life until my current car... the thing about SAT ( sport auto transmission ) it's the best of both words.. The transmission shifts faster than I could ever shift with a manual and it is smooth as butter.. the paddle shifters also give me some driving involvement that the manual gave me.
