Was just in the dealer spec'ing up my new car - he checked on the bmw intranet and there is a bulletin dated 27th November 2004 which states that all cars built after 27th November can have HUD spec'd in them.

Needless to say my car now has HUD - arrives January!

?880. The wording on the bulletin was, "We are delighted to announce the availability..." so it was news even to the dealer. My car is going to be their first 5 series with HUD

****ox! I specifically asked my dealer about this and he said it would be well into next year. My car arrived in the country in the last day or so, so I missed this by a whisker!

Apparently delay was due to the windscreen manufacturer according to my dealer. Maybe they couldn't get the right-hand drive windscreens done before the left-hand drive ones as the US have had them for a while now.

"None" is what I was told - but if anyone know's different..... obviously a big job with the unit itself (and therefore the whole top of the dash I assume) and the windscreen to replace...

Car is now due 30th December, so I'm guessing I'll be one of the first UK cars with HUD?
