I'm sure the cheque I wrote was ?50k or just smidge under, so list must have been a bit over. Only got about ?2k off I think as the engine and sport model were quite new then

List price minus 7% is what I get of a new car.

But the old one isn't worth shit :'(

potentially if I want to sell down the line, is the used car market favorable for sellers...e.g. lots of buyers, high prices.

the 03 e500, depreciated nearly 50% in just four years..I don't want to make that mistake again so I am considering if BMWs have better resale/depreciation..
For years, the "average" 5 series cars were terrible in depreciation (not as bad as 7s though.... ). Now, (perhaps attributable to the Baby Boomer buying and training of the younger generation) they seem to be improving.

The one used 5 model that seems to do best is the large engine Sport model, especially with stick. They are considered extremely rare by my dealer who tends to specialize in them. It will be interesting to see how the SMG-equipped cars do in the near future.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

you didnt actually take that top gear program seriously did you? It was pure comedy and totally contrived!

O come on.
of couse not all 3 guys are just big kids with big toy cars, just like my son playing with his toy cars but I love the pragramm cos they take the piss out of each other.
5th gear is a more seriously program than top gear.
