Here something light-hearted that might prove insightful :
What percentage of E60 drivers are represented on this forum ?
I assume its probably quite low since most drivers have better things to do that read car forums
It would be interesting to know :
- How many E60s are out there
- How many registered users there are on this forum
And what do the other folks do ? Just drive about in ignorant bliss of all the things that they didn't know could be wrong with their car

Not too hard to make a guess. FDMalone posted 2004 sales of 45,500+ 5 series. Haven't looked back to see 2003 sales of E60, but lets add another 15,000 just for fun, though that could be higher. So, we're looking at 60,000 E60 sold and the member count here is up to what, approaching 2,000? Let's call it 1,500. Even if we assume that all 1,500 are E60 owners, and there are likely members who don't own, we're looking roughly 2-3% of the ownership pool. Reality is likely a bit lower. Just my guess.

there are some people here with no lives but to post on this forum, I guess thats their hobby? !! I don't know the numbers but they are pretty low compare to other cars I would say 15 to 20% of Americans can afford a 5er.

Like anything else, the more one advertises, the more members one gets.
Since this is a free site that doesn't advertise (afaik), the membership will always be low by % of total cars sold.
If there as a brochure included with every car letting the new owners know about this site, then that would be different.

I believe we are a representative subset of issues/problems the E60 world is seeing at large. Although our stats might be slightly skewed ?cause we are enthusiasts and eager to learn or know something about our rides.
