When I purchased the 545i I knew BMW was not known for reliability, and the 545i in particular was a stinker. But I wanted to couple balls out speed with outstanding handling at a reasonable price and it fit the bill perfectly.
I agree, my E60 replaced an SRT8 Jeep, that was getting 9 mpg and costing me $750/mo in gas alone. So the LAST thing I wanted was a V-8 draining my wallet. Instead I chose the I6, and the difference in mpg is astounding, I have achieved 35 mpg. I do really miss having the power of a V-8 though, so the replacement for my E60 will almost certainly have a V-8 in it (I want a 550).

My 550i was my first V-8 and i was coming from a 4 banger. I love the power but it does eat gas when your having fun. I only drive my car to the train which is like 6 block and do highway driving during the weekend so it works out for me. I cant get enough of the power that plants you in your seat and i have the 6 spped manual so i run my gears to the max and the car just wants more and more. Sometimes i shed a tear of joy from the excitement

Exactly, I'm also a member of watchuseek, a forum devoted to mostly higher end wrist watches. We get a far amount of first time posters saying my watch stopped or other issues. You would get the impression that a particular brand or model has major problems, when percentage wise it really is only a small number of people that have problems.

Just do a google search, my BMW 5 series won't start and you will see that 5series.net will be one of the first listings. People with problems seeking information. Not saying that BMWs are as reliable as say a Lexus though.
