Default Transmission Jolts

I am back with another Transmission issue . When I start the car in cold and put the gear in D (drive), the car Jolts as if it wants to just take off like a plane even my foot is firm on the brake pedal. At this stage, the car is idling much higher since it is cold nearly 1500rpm (when it is not cold it sits somewhere around 650-700rpm). Once the engine warms up, this does not occurs during the day. Is this electrical or mechanical issues. Has anyone experienced this issue and know what is the solution.

I am very paranoid on transmission issues on vehicles and don't want to take any chance on it. Any suggestions are welcome.

Even on the coldest mornings I don't recall my engine idling anywhere near 1500rpm. Maybe your should investigate that before you do have a transmission problem.

I will check my exact rpm's and let you know, but my normal Idle rpm's is 663. What is yours, cold and normal?

Engine should not idle high like that. My guess is that because you are idling high and then you put it in gear this is causing your car to jump. If this idle settles down then try starting the car cold, allow it to idle normally which is 500-600 rpm and put in gear. I bet your problem is solved.

I would suggest that reset adaptions. Possibly just a throttle adaption could fix this if the above works.

mine is having the exact same problems, i put it to D about 5 seconds after i start the car and it jolts like a monster when i have my foot on the break, if i lt go of it break it jolts away and goes. it settles down after 2-3 minutes, i concern is whether this is an actual issue or i should just warm it up for a few minutes

Okay I checked, at cold the temprature is 24C and RPMs are at 1034, when normal heated up, the temprature is 93C with RPM at 665. So the jolt is experienced at cold with 24C+1034RPM. Do you think resetting the adaptation is a solution? Can this be done via INPA?

My 2006 530i does this, but if you guys are complaining about a jolt like mine, I don't know what would settle your needs

When the engine/tranny are cold, the car is a very very rough machine, but that's expected. In fact, the shifts are so quick when it's cold (the car almost shifts with a jolt as well) it sort of makes me wish I had those types of shifts all the time

If the you and the OP are shifting into D only 5 seconds after starting a cold car, the car will definitely jolt since it's still in its "warm up/oil circulation cycle". It's probably running at 1000rpm when you're shifting. Give it enough time to lower it's rev to the usual 600 rpm before shifting. Shouldn't take any more than about 20 seconds...
