So far, none. My 535xi is one year old, and no troubles at all. Touch wood.

I've only had the emmission error and that was it. Otherwise no issues.

It seems to me with German cars is 1/3 are great with minimal to no issues, another 1/3 are shop whores for life, and the other 1/3 is like most cars a few issues here and there but nothing crazy.

BMW makes a great driving car and I think at times gets a free pass from many diehard Bimmer fans on many issues (ie: the damn cup holders, subpar radio compared to most other luxury brand cars, some safety issues, etc. etc.). Then again I'm sure this can said about alot of cars.

Well my car is still at the dealership. They fixed the active steering but it was just a re-calibration, they also fixed the seat mat for the airbag warning but said it wasn't a recall but covered it under warranty. There was a light issue they also had to fix for the BMW emblem lights when you get in the car. Radiator was fixed and i got a full flush for free with it...

Unfortunately the noise from the AC that has been there for a month mysteriously stopped the DAY I BRING IT IN so they can't fix that.

Then they call me today to tell me that they are getting faults due to low voltage and i need a new battery which isn't a warranty item and thats a cool $372... I could have done it myself but with how sensative the electrical system is i figured i wouldn't screw with it... How long do the batteries usually last for these cars?

God let this be the last trip for a while.
These cars are hard on batteries. They really use every volt coming out of that battery. I think your lucky if you can get more then about three years on these batteries. Mainly due to that fact that the car is so sensitive to low voltage.

okay i got my first complaint.. i just got my car back from service about 2 weeks ago.. minus the part for the lower grill that "fell" off.. which they mis-ordered... anyways.. about 2 days ago the "car is running hot" thingy came up on screen.. it went away just as quickly.. anyways.. again today as im sitting in a parking lot.. car running.. on cell blabbing.. it came up again. i just left it alone.. watched it. then it changed to car should be shut off now.. lol.. so i did.. went food shopping.. and called my S/A.. he called me right back. told me what to buy.. but i dont get it.. i just brought it in.. shouldnt my fuids have been topped off.. oil.. antifreeze.. power steering.. etc.. just annoying crap.. now im gonna go out and buy it and ill top it off later when i havent been driving.. im venting!

Buy a used lemon and live with it sluggoslinger,

On this Forum we (have tried) to be honest.

Some lease a BMW and drive it as hard as they can (and even tune it).
I would ever never buy a dealer used or a leased one.

I could tell you so much more...

My own cars have always been mints and all problems
even so small, have been taken car of, OEM.

This cars are very reliable, take care of them and they will take care of you.
No complains here.
I wouldn't say they are very reliable based on what I hear from people on this forum. The car has 60 computers for Pete's sake, surely something will break eventually. And after 5 years, things will break even more.

Honda is reliable, toyota is reliable, BMW is not up there. Then again, it drives like a dream. Sometimes I forget that I'm in a 4,000lbs station wagon, because it drives like a sports car ... thats what I love about it.

So far I had a PDC sensor replaced (fried the whole system), and I'm getting a humming noise between 130-140km/h from the summer tires. I changed to winters and the noise is gone. Anyone else had humming on 135 style rims and Goodyear summer tires (245/40/18)?

Wow....guess I'm doin ok with just this high emissions. It's gotta b the gas cap. I had my friend who's a mechanic at the bmw dealer hook it up and he said it was a loose gas cap. It came back up 8wks later so Im considering myself lucky!
