I don't have an iPod (or any MP3 player for that matter.) I was listening to Sirius.

Ah...your signature says iPod/USB so I assumed you had one.

I'm telling you it's Poltergeist.

That still seems odd, but I'll have them check it out. Is there a TSB for it? I already know that if I give them the description I gave, there's NO WAY they're going to think it's coming from a windshield leak. Even I'm still skeptical on that one.
Does it only happen over 100mph? I was waiting for it when I was over 100mph and it chimed in right at 120 mph, a very high pitched whistle. It didn't sound electronic or like static.

Yeah, I have the built-in adaptor, but if anything, I'll use a USB stick. If the iPod jack ever gets used, it'll be from my kids or some other guest(s). I actually prefer to burn an MP3 disk and load it. A full one will still provide me with hours of music. More than I'd likely use in one sitting.

Yes, it's only over 100. It doesn't sound like a whistle to me. Not to date myself, but it's like from the old days if you tried to play a data cassette tape in an audio deck, just not nearly as loud and harsh.

Had the same issue with my car last year (2006 530 Sport Package) Found lots of posts all over the internet, especially on the European forums, about this problem. I did not wanted to believe it but they were saying that I need to have dealer re-install my factory installed (brand-new) windshield to get rid of the whistle. Some dealers know about this, but that was not the case for my dealer. I was told that I can not legally drive my car that fast therefore they are not going to even discuss this issue with me since they can not verify it with their mechanic in the car!

I printed out the posts that I found and the master mechanic promised me to follow up on that. Sure enough, two weeks later he called me back and told me that I can bring my car in to be fixed - and he said basically the same thing I heard from the folks on the internet - Apparently, small bubbles inside the Windshield sealing material are causing this problem - this goes back to when it was installed back in the factory.

Reluctantly, left my car there and two days later had the car back. Took it to 149mph on a back-road ( no sole was on that road of course ) but no whistles this time. So, I would suggest you check with your dealer first and tell them that you can hear the whistle on a windy day when there is a head-wind at around 75 mph :^)

I have only gone up to 105 mph and I drove the car on the autobahn I know I'm a pu$$y
I did Euro delivery and I was told when I got the car not to exceed 100 mph and/or 4500 rpm
In retrospect I should have thrown that rule out the window. When else would I have the opportunity to let the car loose with no fear of getting a ticket?
Here at home I'll normally cruise at 70-80 mph no higher. I might have gotten her past 90 once but that's it.
As much as I'd love to max her out, i think I'd hate a ticket even more.
