Whilst I think that this is a rather daft thread, I have to express my surprise at the speeds some US drivers on here claim to have driven.

During my 4 or 5 trips to the US, I have always been surprised at how low the speed limits are on major roads and the fact that speed cops seem to be everywhere!
The US is very large, so there are large expanses of roads with little or no enforcement. I am surprised by the guys that do it in city areas. Although like you I did it when I was young. I had a "borrowed" 69 Chevy Chevelle up to 130MPH on a two line road when I was 16 with no license....

I did 249 kmh (154 mph) in my MY03 530d E60 with 218hp, manual box and no mods, on standard size 18" rims, while driving on the Autobahn (no up or downhill, just flat surface). I don`t think that the car will do much more, even with the limiter disabled. Or it will, but only going downhill or towed by a 911 Turbo ;-)
It somehow did`t feel all THAT incredible to be honest, maybe living in Germany has something to do with it. Even when I drive with my parents, my avarage cruising speed is about 160kmh (100mph) or slightly over, so you kinda get used to the whole speed deal.

Now I`m limited by tyres (argh.....I can`t wait for spring ;-) )

European cars are electronically limited to 250KM/H (~155MPH)
My 530d stock has reached it without any hassle
I wonder how much it will go without it speedo is marked to 260KM/H (161MPH)
It goes all the way

Got up to 150 on the 101 in cal- STUPID in retrospect. Not sure what I was thinking. Could have been in jail but man it was fun. Since then I have had brief sprints to near a 100 but it happens so darn easily in these cars its tough!

well lets say, around the 165 mark, for sure thats 165mph, possibley more, but couldnt get an accurate reading from the engine revs to see reall, need one of those digital speedo

But everyone is right, it is so EASY tp go over 100, and so quick to get there, i bet the M5, And B5 Drivers know it more than us

I-55 South between Chicago and St. Louis. 75 F, Late PM and not a headlight nor tail light in site ahead of me--nothing but fields on either side. Was cruising about 85-90 mph and saw a long straight and stomped it. It was very stable up to 151. I was looking to see if the 155 limiter would kick-in, but backed out of it when I thought I saw a tail light in the distance. I lifted and coasted down to 85 past what turned out to be a red driveway reflector. Close enough. No need to do it again.

Kempower Belgium (Lummen) did remap. I have done 40.000 km till now, for the moment no problems.
But Kempower did all my previous cars, so I don't except problems.

And indeed, it's the stock clutch...
90Kkm beind and no problems. Kempower did mine too. SOOOOO happy!
