Indeed. 790 miles on the ODO! How is that oil consumption working out for you?
+1. Note time of 1:17PM. Must have been on ED and couldn't resist. Give us the VIN so we can avoid buying that one when you're through with it...

LMAO. Its always a scary thing, buying a high end preowned car.

I take immaculate car of my 550i, but I'm not sure I would want to buy a car from a guy who drives like I do.

Whilst I think that this is a rather daft thread, I have to express my surprise at the speeds some US drivers on here claim to have driven.

During my 4 or 5 trips to the US, I have always been surprised at how low the speed limits are on major roads and the fact that speed cops seem to be everywhere!

On my first visit I was booked for doing 75mph on a highway and, given the way the state trooper (or whatever he was called) reacted, I got the distinct impression he hadn't seen anyone drive that fast for a while! Thereafter, I have religiously stuck to the speed limits and have been glad that I did, as I have seen countless speed traps and cops waiting in 'hidden' spots to pounce on anyone going a few mph over the limit.

In the UK we rarely see Police officers on traffic duties these days as they rely mostly on cameras (fixed and mobile) but I have no doubt that, even though Europeans generally drive faster than Americans, you would soon get caught if you went over, say, 120mph. In the US, I would think it's almost a certainty?

When I was a young (and foolish) guy, I used to see how fast every car I owned would go (and I got to 145mph in a 1980's vehicle) but nowadays (with the wisdom of middle age, family responsibilities and the need to retain my driving licence!) I am just saisfied to know that my car will do over 150mph without having to prove it.

The legal limit here is typically close to that you have in the UK and is 65 or 70 for most freeways. You'd be hard pushed to find many drivers traveling much under 85 to 90 on Highway 280, which is about the same as you'd see on most UK motorways other than camera zones such as the M25 variable speed limit area. I don't see that much in the way of CHP presence to be honest and even if they were out in force I'd much rather have a more visible CHP presence than a bunch of cameras on the freeways. Some states are, however, getting more like the UK (speed cameras in Arizona, ridiculous traffic enforcement in places like Virginia)

No problem. It drank a quart between oil changes for the first two changes. Not a drop since. As far as I can tell that is not out of the norm. Smile has not faded any...
