Somewhere around 105MPH (when I'd look down). I was following a C320. It felt more like 130MPH, but based on the salesguy (and most other owners I've chatted with before), BMW speedos are "optimistic," so it was probably even less than 105MPH. It was neat walking down the C320 and backing off, though. I could tell he was jamming his throttle when I got close to him from the sudden waft of sulfur in the air. I'd just walk him back down without ever shifting out of sixth gear. After swatting him around like a cat does with its prey for a while, I went ahead and let my nuts hang out the window to show my dominance and put him out of his misery.

I'm sure it was well beyond 105 at that point. BTW, does anybody else's car produce little, low-level beeps/squeaks at high speeds? These weren't like warning tones or anything like that. It actually sounded like electronic interference coming through the speakers. There was no set pattern to it.
You have a small seal leak from your windshield. It's fixable under warranty, but you to convince a technician to run with you at that speed in order for them to fix it.

European cars are electronically limited to 250KM/H (~155MPH)
My 530d stock has reached it without any hassle
I wonder how much it will go without it speedo is marked to 260KM/H (161MPH)

What is this "secret menu" you speak of?
If you press and hold the odo-reset button for ~15 seconds, you'll see the secret menu coming up. Now you can do some nice things like testing your instrument cluster, but most readings (like Veff) are still locked. To unlock, go to menu 19 and then enter the sum of the last 5 digits of your car's serial number. Now it's unlocked, go to menu 6 or 7 for Veff.

The car told me 140mph-ish. It was fast, fun and handled very well. It gets up to those speeds pretty fast.

I'm guessing you're poking fun at me? That doesn't make any sense.

Nope, this is a fact, it happened to my car as well at about 120mph, a high pitched whistle. There was a problem with the way they sealed the windshield on early cars.

That still seems odd, but I'll have them check it out. Is there a TSB for it? I already know that if I give them the description I gave, there's NO WAY they're going to think it's coming from a windshield leak. Even I'm still skeptical on that one.

1) Member545 said it was common with early build cars but yours is an '08.

2) Were you listening to your iPod and could it possibly be just some static from the speakers? I'm not sure about the iPod connectors on the newer cars but the auxiliary input on my old 545 did not have the cleanest sound.

3) Perhaps you have a car poltergeist???
