You can check the sensors easily enough by doing a simple circuit continuity test. The sensor is a wire nothing more. If wire is cut (by brake rotor), brake pad wear warning is triggered. The sensor completes the warning light circuit to ground. When the wire is cut, ground is lost and the warning is illuminated.

It was my belief that upon sensor replacement, it takes several ignition on/off cycles before the fault clears itself unless the fault is cleared manually with INPA or similiar.

I thought the same when I replaced my front brakes, rotors, pads, sensor. My indicator stated i was at "-500 miles". When I went through the reset procedure, the next interval after -500 is -9000, keep going until you see 25,000. Then you're all set.

I suggest going through the reset procedure again.

I've heard that on these systems and if / when it's a safety item, and it goes a certain distance etc past the resetting range it can no longer be reset by using the method that was posted earlier, it will have to be reset with with BMW software. I would go by an INDY shop and see if they can do it for you. I am sure they dealer will not since they did not change the breaks.

I just did my rear brakes. Took me 3-4 attempts to get it off the -15000mls screen after installing a new sensor.
