All the advice here was right on!? I just need to get back into the "mannual transmission" frame of mind.?

But anyway, I my shifts are 100 times smoother now after applying this last piece of advice -- and, honestly, just getting my brain to think like I am driving a stick is a huge break through.

I think that's another key -- because your left foot is idle, your brain instinctively goes into automatic transmission mode (or manu-matic mode) so you kind of expect things to shift like an auto.

If you focus your concentration on remembering that your still shifting manually, the timing and feel of everything makes more sense and becomes natural in time.

One of these days, I'll get out my M3 to see if my left leg and brain still remembers how to shift the old-fashioned way!

Hitting the paddle BEFORE easing on the gas does it! This is the secret I was looking for.
Small but important correction.

What I MEANT to say in the above was

"Hitting the paddle BEFORE easing OFF the gas...."
