Hey all.... New to this board my first post

After spending 15+ years in Vancouver im now back to HK for good....been back for 7 months or so..

Anyhow enough of my history rofl.... planning to get a car in the next 3-4 months.... been eyeing used E60 530i...

Theyre floating around 350-400k on the market? 2004-2005...

Just wanted you guys to share your views on this car....obviously BIASED...but... lol

Is the 530i a good buy? Enough power for HK driving? Known problems?

Cheers

1st Welcome to the best e60 forum in the world and our E60HK family.
The prices is about right for now, but wait until next year the price will drop like hell on all cars.
For HK 525 & 530 is more than enough power for HK, any thing over this, is just saying I have money to burn
If the car is a weekend car then get 530 cos itis a better car to drive. But if you driving it every day to work I go for the 523 or 525.
most of us have 525 or 530.

we are having a meet this Friday, can you come out for the meet?

Dave,

I replied your PM

Thanks for the warm welcome, I have plans lined up for Friday maybe i'll join you guys next time around..

Btw whats the avg age of the HK E60 group? Im 25 ...im probably the young' un? Chose to look at the 530i because i would have to pick up clients sometimes...something comfy and classy...

It'll definately be a daily driver.... just worried if there are known existing problems of the car?

Welcome, prices of cars are much more than in Canada!!
no real probs with the modern Beemers, i have had mine from new 1.5 year and no probs and done 37000km!!
always remember Jap BHP is always 20% less than German declared BHP which is at the wheels,
530i is well powerful enough for cruising, sit back and enjoy the styling ,and technology, Aluminium hood, front end and magnesium alloy engines.....same weight as a 3 series!!!!
note: twin vanos and valvetronic = Jap Twin cam and Vtec, but the germans don't make a big fuss about such technology,

inn that right BOYS???

as for a 2004+ car
best to get the car and jack it up for ah kin at sing fai to look at to see if any thing needs changing or been hit.

hi guys
just purchased a 525i, it is fun driving but the initiation of car is a disappointment esp. up alone steep road.
heard that some bro has a device called sprint booster in place and it is like working miraculously.
was therefore wondering how I can get one here.
many thanks,
ed

Welcome BIU

If you got some cash in hands, i would get the post 2006 E60, cos fews and bits has changed compared with the 04-05 model (MP3, idrive knob...etc)
As other peers said, either 523, 525 and 530 will give u a great fun!

and you are not the youngest in here, i am 24
People think driving an E60 will be old/business man, but in fact, we are younger than the e90 lads

Enjoy the forum!!

Cheers
Keith
