So, what would make any sense to mod a car?

I think your car can sell at 150-170K if you don't mind those time wasters. If you need to let it go in a hurry (to trade in to dealer for example), then selling price will suffer. i.e. time is money.

3k is for the plasma ground with installation, not installation cost.
